The following are
regular Village Hall activities, including several where locals have
joined together to form their own club. A contact point is given where
one is known but failing that we will try to help if you send an email
to the Village Hall team.
Artsreach
The charity Artsreach is Dorset's rural touring arts organisation, giving
rural communities all over Dorset the opportunity to see and participate
in high quality arts events in their own villages. Their organisation
and sponsorship enables us to put on four or more top quality shows
each year at affordable prices. To find out more click here. http://www.artsreach.co.uk
The local organisers are Elaine and Dave Knight, tel: 01929 400492
Badminton Group
Our friendly group meets every Friday evening at 8pm for 2 hours. With
only one court, we play doubles and everyone is welcome to come along
and play. All abilities, no membership fee, no commitment. Just turn
up and join in. For more details contact: Gil Oastler - 01929 400169
Dance Group
We have several evening dances and afternoon tea dances throughout the
year, and also a New Year’s Eve party. Our events are mainly ballroom
and sequence dancing. For more information, look in the Parish News
or contact Giles Marsh, Tel: 01929 400259
History Group
We meet about four times a year in the Village Hall, and also have a
village walk to look mainly at buildings of historical interest. One
of our main objectives is to collect an archive of local history, and
anyone interested in helping would be most welcome. Look at the exhibition
in the church, and for more information, contact Viv King (01929 400294)
or Mike Halsall (01929 400321). Dates of meetings are advertised in
the What's On section of the website and
the Parish News. Everyone welcome.
Junior Drama
This is an organisation for young would-be actors/singers. Rehearsals
are held Saturday afternoons and a big stage show is produced at least
once a year by Chris Eldred. Contact her on 01929 405217 for all information.
Lulworth and District Garden Society
The society was formed in January 1984 as a forum for people living
in the district with a shared interest in gardening. Meetings are held
at Lulworth Village Hall on the second Wednesday of each month, in the
evening. The meeting comprises a brief discussion of society business
and future plans, followed by a talk given by a professional speaker,
usually illustrated. The topics are mostly garden related and range
from instruction on specific techniques, the planning and construction
of show gardens and photographic tours of gardens of specific interest.
The society holds an annual flower and vegetable show in August, which
is open to Society members and entries from non members are also welcomed.
Cash prizes and trophies are awarded in a wide category of classes.
A flower of the month competition is held at each monthly meeting, with
the member accruing the most points overall awarded an annual trophy.
Special events are held during the year, such as an evening outing to
a local garden of particular interest, possibly a day-trip summer outing,
whilst the December meeting takes the form of a Christmas party. Potential
new members or visitors to our meetings are always welcome. The annual
subscription fee is a very modest £6.

Parish Council
We meet on the first Monday of the month at 7.30 p.m. in the Village
Hall. Prior to the start of the meeting there is a public participation
period for members of the public attending to raise issues, questions
or give comments/ views as they wish.
Meetings are fairly informal and you are most welcome at all times.
They can go on till quite late. You are welcome to stay to the end,
but feel free to leave when you want to.
Post Office
We have an Outreach Post Office in the Meetings Room.
Mondays and Fridays 9.15 am to 12.15 pm.
Tuesdays 9.15 to 11.15 am.
Short Mat Bowls Club
The club meets on Monday (7 - 9pm) and Friday (5 - 7pm) in the Village
Hall. We have three mats and several sets of bowls for general use.
Some members bring their own bowls; that is not necessary, but soft
footwear that will not damage the mats is essential.
The cost for the two-hour session is £2. Beginners are always welcome
and tuition is available. For more information contact:
Ron Kellock 01929 400243
Colin Broadhurst 01929 400473
Skittles Group
We meet at 7.30 p.m. every Tuesday evening for a game of skittles and
a social get together. We split into two teams who compete to get the
highest score. Amongst us are beginners, and those who play quite well.
All ages enjoy playing. If you would like to join in please contact
John (Tel: 01929 400479), or turn up one Tuesday evening and have a
word with him.
Table Tennis
We meet Monday afternoons at 2pm in the main hall for a very light hearted
bash. We usually have 3 to 4 tables occupied and up to 16 members can
be there enjoying a good session. One or two players are of a good standard,
but the rest of us are not, so don't feel too bad if you are a beginner
as you will soon be as good as many of us. If you are an experienced
player then maybe you can teach us a thing or two! Membership is casual,
so pay when you come.
A tea-break rest is provided at 3pm and we finish at 4pm. There is a
small charge for the hall hire and we take turns in doing the refreshments.
Equipment is available to borrow for the session. We have seasonal breaks
during Easter and summer roughly aligning with the school holidays.
Please come along and join in. Contact Barbara Norton – 01929 400301
Women's Institute (WI)
Our meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month, at 7.30pm
in the Village Hall. Visitors are always most welcome. West Lulworth
WI brings women together to enjoy friendship through regular monthly
meetings with interesting speakers, planned walks, craft mornings, outings,
book clubs and mah-jong evenings. Members also participate in just a
few of the County WI events on offer, such as the County Quiz and the
skittles tournament.
